What is Web-Oscar?

Web-Oscar changes all this by automating the task of extracting complex product details from the Oscar system and placing them into a dedicated e-commerce web site. Even more importantly, Web-Oscar automates the process of maintaining the web data so that new products are always added when they arrive and deleted products are removed.

Web-Oscar is a complete package that gives you, the retailer, all the essential tools needed to publish your products on the internet. How Web-Oscar Works

To facilitate the Web-Oscar process an e-commerce software component is required in addition to your existing Oscar software. This component gives you all the necessary functionality to set up your web site. It includes settings that allow you to:

Choose the sections you would like to see appear on the web site menu
Determine automatically which products appear in each section
Establish the publication categories you would like individual products to appear in
Decide which products you would like to see on the homepage
Set unique web prices for stock
Set publishing parameters for stock held in Oscar
Add pictures, expanded descriptions and track listings against products
Digitise and attach sound files (requires optional Oscar audio capture system)
Input postage rates for the different worldwide zones

How the Web Site Works

When the Web-Oscar system is commissioned, you will have a choice of templates which determines the look of the web site.

Once the web site is on-line, visitors can either browse the main catalogue sections or use the advanced search engine. Both paths lead directly to the desired product. Each product page has a link to add the item to the shopping cart. When the visitor has finished shopping, they proceed to checkout.

Here, they select the country they want the order to be shipped to and the appropriate postage rate is automatically calculated. The visitor is directed to the secure checkout form where they fill out all delivery and credit card details.

As soon as the order has been submitted, a confirmation email is sent to the customer and simultaneously you receive an email detailing their order.
